Wow, where has the spring season gone? June is almost over and we are almost through the first full month of the new 2013-2014 Catalog. What are your thoughts so far? I bet there are some items on your must have list already. I know I do.
The Stampin' Llamas are sharing some of their love for the new catalog along with products that are some of our past favorites. By now, you have realized that we are hopping again and I thank you for stopping by and checking out my projects. If you have been hopping along from the beginning, you will have arrived here by way of Kath R's blog. Great projects Kath! If you happened upon this page some other way, no fear, the buttons at the bottom of this post will set you on the path to blog hopping fun. Let's get started, shall we!
The two card projects I have today are cards that my stamp club gals created at this month's gathering. I wanted to showcase a number of new products and colors right off the bat from the new catalog.
This first card we created used a technique with the Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and brayer. The first step is to roll the in brayer in the ink color of your choice then rolling it over the negative side of the embossing folder. Be sure to use a light touch when rolling the brayer over the embossing folder. That way there won't be too many smudges where you don't want them. Insert your card stock and run it through the Big Shot. Now you have a whole new layer of color, texture, and background possibilities. There are several variations that can be done with this technique. Lots of fun, don't you think? The punch and embossing folder used for this card are from the Quatrefancy Suite and also have coordinating Designer Series Paper, ribbon, buttons, and stamp set.

Our second card, again, used some brand new product from the new catalog this year. I was exited to share with the gals the new Simply Pressed White Clay. This is a moldable clay that dries over time and can be used and colored in so many different ways. In this card, I prepared the clay flowers and buttons a few days ahead of time. My tip is to pat the Buttons & Blossoms Simply Pressed Clay Mold with the Embossing Buddy slightly before adding the clay. Once I added the clay to the molds, I put the molds in the freezer for about 30 minutes. This helps the drying process and makes it much easier removing the clay from the mold. From there I stored the flowers and buttons until I needed them. At club, each gal chose a clay piece and we colored them using Blender Pens and Classic Ink. There are other ways that they clay can be colored, such as using watercolor brushes, ink pads, and by adding ink refill drops to the clay prior to the molding process. The ink refill process can get a little messy, so you want to either use gloves or a plastic baggy to mix the ink into the clay. Also, the more ink refill used the darker the clay. Using only a few drops will result in a lighter shade of the original color, but by adding more, you can create any shade you want. From there we assembled our cards.

So my last project to share with you is, of course, is an MDS project. Last week the family got away from it all and headed west. This was our third trip out to Grand Teton National Park. I wish we could be out there every summer, but with a 19 hour drive just to get there, every year is not quite possible, although it is totally worth it once we are there. We usually stay at Signal Mountain Lodge so that we are right on Jackson Lake and in the valley below the mountains. With such beautiful scenery, we are never short of pictures. I am now getting started on scrapbooking this trip, and this time I am using MDS to do it. Here is just one of many pages that will fill our book of memories from this year's trip. This one shows Mt. Moran in the morning lakeside and a view from the Snake River Overlook.
I hope you have enjoyed this little jaunt through a small portion of new product from the 2013-2014 catalog. From here you will hop on to the fabulous blog of Linda W. Enjoy and see you again soon.
